Karen Bellian, Stow resident for 24 years has a college degree in Nursing. Although Karen had multiple professions and jobs including, Nursing, waitress and pre-school teacher, she finally decided to chase her dreams in June 2002 after considering opening a local donut shop. Karen's partner in crime is none the less her husband Andy Bellian. The two decided to take full swing in the small business field and opened Stownut Donut & More May 3, 2003. Although the couple decided to open the business, behind the scenes includes Karen and Andy's three children, Michael, Joe, and Katie. The family of five is simply the entire operation of the small business with a few select employees.
From the beginning, Stownut Donut has been known as nothing more then a local donut shop. After Karen realized her passion for cooking, the shop underwent a transformation in adding a full breakfast and lunch menu as an addition to the donuts and bakery. Although the menu has changed multiple times the building and design itself has too. The plaza went through a complete reconstruction after undergoing new ownership. As for the inside of Stownut Donut & Diner, transformation is not something new. Over the course of the 11 years, Karen and Andy have reconstructed the diner multiple times. More recently in 2012 the family added an extension to the 50's style bar, adding six more seats.
Although the shop has gone through multiple transformations, the business is constantly growing today. The demand in the fast paced environment has kept the family strong for 11 years. Theres no doubt the business is family ran as you walk through the doors on a Sunday morning to the family of five hard at work. Although the shop is family operated, as you walk through the door, you fit right in as if its your own family.
