If you’ve driven past the intersection of Route 18 and Windfall Road lately, you’ll notice that a new restaurant has opened in one of Montville Centre’s long-empty spaces.
One Eleven Bistro, a fine dining restaurant, opened this summer, thanks to a successfully funded $17,000-plus Kickstarter campaign. Its owners are University of Akron graduates: house manager Meghan Pender and executive chef Anthony Scolaro. The pair previously worked at Westfield, where Scolaro was the chef at the Westfield Inn and the Westfield Group Country Club.
Scolaro and Pender are committed to using locally-sourced ingredients in their kitchen, and they even thank their partners, a group of local farms and a bakery, on their menu: Mennell Acres, Dancing Desserts, Tea Hill Farm, MorningSide Farm, Yellow House Cheese, Lucky Penny and Camel Creek Farm.
There aren’t many area restaurants that offer Banh Mi sandwiches, Pork Cheek Pappardelle and Salmon Bearnaise, but One Eleven Bistro’s menu includes those items and more — good choices for guests who enjoy an adventurous meal. A must-try menu item is the coffee-braised Beef Short Rib, served with a curried cauliflower potato puree and summer fava succotash (shown below).
One Eleven Bistro’s menu features starters, soups and salads, sandwiches, pasta and entrees, which range in price from $18 to $28. The bar offers an extensive wine, craft beer and cocktail list, and guests can enjoy weekend brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Monday.
You’ll find One Eleven Bistro at 2736 Medina Road. To view the restaurant’s brunch, dinner and dessert menu, visit 111bistro.com.
