More than 300 young professionals and community leaders gathered at The Tangier in West Akron on Feb. 28, to celebrate a decade of accomplishments by Torchbearers, a young professional leadership organization in Akron.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while reminiscing about the group’s achievements since its inception in 2003. During the evening, the Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Torchbearers co-founders, Jefferson Satterfield and Scott Read, and the Friend of Young Leaders Award was given to Daniel Flowers, president and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
In addition to the awards, the program included the announcement of an endowment fund with Akron Community Foundation, which will help provide for Torchbearers’ long-term sustainability.
