Canton Museum of Art
The Canton Museum of Art announced today that Max Barton has been named marketing director of the museum.
In this position, Barton will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the museum’s marketing and branding, advertising, public relations, social media and exhibit promotional programs, as well as long-term strategic market planning, membership development and fundraising support. Barton joined the museum on December 3.
“Max’s solid marketing, brand development and public relations experience in a fast-paced environment combined with his multi-faceted business and leadership skills are an excellent addition to our Canton Museum of Art team,” said M.J. Albacete, executive director of the museum. “With an eye for new strategic marketing trends, we’re looking forward to Max’s creative and fresh approach to grow the museum’s visibility and vitality in our arts community.”
A seasoned marketing and communications executive, Barton brings more than 20years of expertise to the Canton Museum of Art, most recently serving as director of corporate communications and strategic planning for Myers Industries, Inc. (NYSE: MYE) in Akron, Ohio. Through 18 years at Myers, he advanced through positions including director of investor relations and communications services manager, supporting marketing for 16 brands.
Prior to that, Barton served as a marketing coordinator for the College of Fine & Applied Arts at The University Akron in Akron, Ohio. He began his career as a marketing and communications specialist for education programs at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville, Kentucky, coordinating statewide programs for performing arts education.
Barton holds a BA in Political Science/Journalism and Theology from Bellarmine University in Louisville. He also earned an MA in Arts Administration with a concentration in marketing and public relations from The University of Akron.
