Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) is seeking volunteers to spread holiday cheer aboard The Polar Express™ this holiday season.
Based on Chris Van Alsburg’s Caldecott-winning book and Warner Bros. motion picture, The Polar Express™, is a story about a young boy’s trip to the North Pole that revives his belief in the Christmas spirit.
Children clad in pajamas board the train in Akron or Independence and travel through Cuyahoga Valley National Park to hear the story of the Polar Express, enjoy hot cocoa and cookies, and sing carols on their way to the North Pole. Once at the North Pole, children see holiday characters, elves hard at work . . . and Santa, all through the train’s windows.
Volunteers are needed on the train to play Santa and the elves who will read the story, assist in creating a festive atmosphere, serve cookies and hot cocoa, and more. Additional elves are also needed just at the North Pole. Training will be provided.
Be a part of this holiday tradition that creates lasting memories for children of northeast Ohio from Friday, November 16th through Thursday, December 20th (except November 21 and 22) from 7 – 9 pm. There will also be two matinees offered – December 15 and December 16th at 10 am.
To become a volunteer, complete the online volunteer agreement at www.cvsr.com/volunteer.aspx , or call the Polar Express Hotline at 800-468-4070 x 234.
